Soho village fete celebrates 50 years

A special 50th celebration of London’s most whimsical and traditional village fete is happening this year on Sunday 20th July. Organised by the Soho Society, you can expect a classic English fete with a Soho twist – morris dancing, a raffle, tug-of-war (between Soho’s police and fire departments), dressed-up dogs, snail racing, jazz and so much more, all topped off with some quintessential tea (or booze) and cake.

But the highlight of the day has surely got to be the Soho waiter’s race – where the chosen racers attempt to hurtle around the streets of Soho whilst balancing a tray laden with items. (The race starts at 3.15pm outside the French House pub.)

Just don’t forget to bring your sun lotion and a brolly.

After the fete, you can capture all of the memories of the day with a Soho-related print, t-shirt or stationery item from Soho Gift Store – such as our quirky Soho Trainers matte poster featuring Wardour Street, or our giclee fine art print of St Anne’s Church.
